Super Game Boy 2 by BLUEamnesiac Super Game Boy 2 by BLUEamnesiac
Update: I found a few better photos of the Super Game Boy 2 and have added more detail, especially for the cartridge's inner supports for the PCB.

This one actually took some time because I wanted to create the board inside of the case as accurately as possible. :XD:

There's another model for the SGB2?

:iconhomerplz: I didn't mean to put a 2 at the end of SGB.
As far as I know, there was only SGB2 and it was a JPN only release.  Such a shame.

It did only cost me $31 plus $4 for shipping on Amazon. Didn't come with a box, but it's in good condition, none the less.

Yep. Though the CPU clock was more accurate too, plus a Game Link port was added.

This is the SFC version, as it was a Japan only release.

Awww. It took a few years for me to finally get one after its release and I know how anxious that wait could be. Here's hoping you find one at a decent price. Or at least a Game Boy Player.

When was this released? And what's different about this from the original Super Game boy? Is it just how it looks?

It was released only in Japan sometime during 1998. There were a few new features and different borders added. The main upgrades are the Game Link port and 100% accurate clockspeed. The first Super Game Boy ran games slightly faster than a real Game Boy.

Ahh, okay I see now. Yes, now I see the game link port, I guess you would link to another Gameboy, I'd imagine linking up with two different Super Nintendos to be very hard.

Yeah, it would be a bit of a pain to set up two SNES systems with SGB2's for game link. But I probably would give it a try at least once if the hardware didn't have to be imported.

What does Super Game Boy 2 do that the original Super Game Boy doesn't do?

The most noticeable upgrade is the Game Link port on the right side of the cart. Also, the clockspeed is now 100% accurate to a real Game Boy. The first Super Game Boy ran games a little faster than the GB.

So gameplay is much closer to the Game Boy games as normal.
