I personally think that Shiek IS a male. After all, it's even suggested in the Japanese release of SUPER SMASH BROTHERS (the first one)! Translated, the trophy for Shiek uses the word "he" instead of "she", unless referring directly to ZELDA. Shiek - He is a mysterious, ninja-like figure who Zelda becomes when she casts a magic spell.

I wish I could have a talk with the developers to confirm the matter directly with them. I really doubt Sheik is a he, because it wouldn't make any sense. If Zelda could transform into a he, then I suspect other Sheikah like Impa could too. It's neither shown or hinted at anywhere in Ocarina of Time. Who knows what the people making the game initially had in mind. I do wonder if Sheik being revealed as Zelda was a last minute change and one that would make sense when you look at the concept art.

Zelda has the triforce of wisdom, which likely would of allowed her to change. Sheikah doesn't make you "magic" Zelda was NOT a Sheikah, she simply disguised herself as one, so "other Sheikah like Impa could" makes no sense.

Neither does having the Triforce of wisdom and where is it said it allows the holder to transform into a different gender? If it's like the name implies, Zelda's piece imbues her with wisdom, not gender changeability. I still would like to know how anyone could think Sheik was ever a he. Calling or referring to someone as such doesn't make it so. There is no mention of anyone in the game being able to change genders. Sheik is Zelda, who is a she. Often the simplest answers are the right ones. I'm by no means trying to convince you or anyone else to change their view though. It's fun to take away an idea from a game. Until someone at Nintendo says specifically that Zelda did transform into a he as Sheik, assuming so is simply wishful thinking by those that want it to be the case. I don't really care what the answer is, as I didn't write the story and have no definitive say. But you would think, something as big as this would have been discussed by someone at Nintendo if it were the case.

No, Sheik ISN'T a boy, just Zelda disguised as one. (I actually think you can SEE the binding for her boobs in the game). I always viewed "him" as Zelda, and just a disguise, once I learned it. I honestly had no clue there was this huge ass debate about whether Sheik was a girl or a boy. O_o It confused me when I first came to the interwebz.

 I thought you were suggesting Sheik was a boy. But, yeah, the way the bindings is the clearest giveaway of an attempt to hide her gender. And strange enough, many real women in history have actually done that successfully. O.o Until the reveal, I did think Sheik was a guy though, mostly because of the really masculine concept/promotional art. My theory, Nintendo is just trolling us at some level. First it was Samus' reveal in the first Metroid, then the Birdo confusion of SMB2 and now Sheik.
