As usual, it's my annual data migration. Every year I always buy a new flash drive right when prices begin to drop and copy years of project data over. Here's a brief look at my capacity jumps...1995 [1.44 MB Floppy Disk X25] --> 1999 [100 MB Zip Disk] --> 2004 [128 MB USB Flash Drive] --> 2005 [512 MB USB Flash Drive] --> 2007 [1GB USB Flash Drive] --> 2009 [8 GB USB Flash Drive] --> 2012 [16 GB USB Flash Drive] --> 2014 [32 GB USB Flash Drive] --> 2015 [64 GB USB Flash Drive]
This doesn't take into account my HDD and CD/DVD backups of course. But as you can see, I try to double my storage capacity each year. And for the moment, 64GB seems like enough to keep compressed and uncompressed art assets stored on one device. That definitely won't last for long though since I may start adding film/video projects. And don't get me started on my personal time capsule of recorded TV broadcasts. That beast alone consumes boxes of DVD-R and flash drives. Too much data!
